MGN Productions in association with the AFMG UAE Chapter is currently working on the production of the Documentary "EXPAT" to be filmed in the UAE during 2009 and 2010.
Mario G Nicotra said "EXPAT is a no budget self funded production based on the lives and lifestyles of various expatriate workers in the UAE. Obviously the UAE makes an ideal place to film this documentary as approximate 82% of its residents are expats from a multitude of countries in a plethora of occupations".
The documentary will focus on a select number of expatriates from different walks of life. Amongst other things the documentary will explore the reason for their decision to move to the UAE, how they went about getting employment here, their expectations versus the reality of the expat lifestyle, how this has impacted on them and their family and finally their vision and hope for the future. We will film and follow their daily routine and aim for a balanced, frank and honest documentary of their story. Further we will examine what happens when ‘things go wrong” and get good advice from local bankers and official on what to do if the expat finds themselves in financial or other difficulties'.
The documentary is planned to be a pilot episode covering a cross-section of expats but the aim is to produce a sequence of continuing episodes covering specific professions or jobs. The producer hope to have the documentary complete in time for the 2011 Middle East International Film Festival to be held in October 2011.
