Welcome to the UAE Chapter of the Aspiring Film Makers Group.
The UAE Chapter of the AFMG is affiliated with the international body, AFMG, and is independently operated by its local membership. The local chapter currently incorporates members from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Who are we? We are a group of passionate multi-national film makers living in the UAE. By amateur we mean our members are not required to have any formal film making training or experience and as such their primary source of income is not derived from the film industry. However even though we are aspiring film makers that is not to say our members are not professional in their film making endevours.
What do we do? We meet and communicate regularly to advance our film making knowledge and to collaboratively work together to produce documentaries and short films thereby furthering our practical experience and skills in the medium.
Who do we seek as members? We invite people from all walks of life and experience to join our group. The only pre-requisite is that you have a passion or desire to become involved in the Film Making process. We seek people interested in all forms of film making activities. From script writers to camera operators, from makeup to post production, from actors to directors, from sound editors to film editors. In other words we seek you.
How much does it cost? The AFMG is a non profit organization and does not charge joining or membership fees.
What do you do now? If you aspire to become involved in the Film Making process, no matter what experience you may or may not have, then contact us for further information.

Our Profile
The very successful 2008 Middle East Film Festival held in Abu Dhabi during October 2008 electrified the local scene and brought into focus the desire for a UAE based film industry. The interest generated by this event and the void remaining after its conclusion left many aspiring film makers wanting more.
Mario G Nicotra the founder of the AFMG dot ORG who either by chance or by fate had won an ALL PASS Festival ticket on a Radio 2 competition spoke on-air with Ms Accalia C. Hipwood, presenter of the Radio 2 Lifestyle program about the film festival and the desire to set up an Amateur Film Makers Group. A few active listeners and a few SMS messages later and the stage was set.
The AFMG UAE Chapter was formed on Saturday 22 November 2008 after seven individuals with diverse experiences and backgrounds but similar passion for film making met for the first time in the Caribou Cafe Marina Mall Abu Dhabi. From this meeting it became obvious that there was a need for the AFMG to start a Chapter in the UAE and a desire for those at the meeting to become involved.
So here we are. Lights, Camera and now ACTION.
